Indian airlines going big: Tata’s Air India to buy 220 planes for $34 billion

In the world's largest aviation transaction, the Tata group will acquire 250 aircraft from Airbus. The commitment includes 140 A320neo single-aisle aircraft, 70 A321neo single-aisle aircraft, 34 A350-1000 wide-body jets, and six A350-900 wide-body jets. These aircraft will usher in a new era for the nation as the brand-new, long-range aircraft make their debut in the Indian market.

Air India has placed an enormous order for 470 aircraft, which is expected to include an order for 220 aircraft from Boeing. The deal with Airbus is expected to be worth more than $100 billion.
