Congress Party To Protest Nationwide Against SEBI Chief Madhabi Puri Buch Today

Amid the ongoing controversy over the Hindenburg allegations, the congress party is set to hold nationwide protests demanding SEBI Chief Madhabi Puri Buch's resignation and a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the Adani issue.

The congress announced the decision following Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge meeting with all general secretaries, state unit chiefs and AICC state in-charges here to discuss organizational matters and number of election related issues as the party braces for upcoming round of assembly polls.

Congress Massive Protest

The US based Hindenburg Research earlier this month claimed that Madhabi Puri Buch and her husband have investments in offshore accounts linked to the Adani Group's alleged financial misconduct.

From the other side SEBI Chief and her husband have strongly denied the accusations, claiming that their financial situation is open and that the charges are baseless.Similarly, the Adani Group termed the allegations as malicious and manipulative and said that they have no business relationships with SEBI chairperson or her spouse.

“Tomorrow, the Indian National Congress will conduct 20 press conferences across the country to highlight the need for a JPC into the Modani Maha Ghotala that has widespread ramifications for the economy, and for crores of small investors - for whom the integrity of capital market regulators is essential,” Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday.

The allegations have set off a political conflict with the Congress and other INDIAN alliance parties demanding her dismissal and a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe while the BJP accused the opposition of being a part of a planned conspiracy to create financial instability and turmoil in India.
