Twitter CEO and Billionaire Elon Musk, will begin to pay “verified content creators” for advertisements in their replies. On Friday 09.06.2023, he took to Twitter to announce this new move which is indubitably good news to the verified account-holding content creators. Twitter was officially taken over by Elon Musk in October last year, after which the company fired thousands of employees.
This led to a periodic struggle to withhold advertisers. Hence this step is seen as a positive step towards cementing the weaker advertising sector of Twitter. Twitter's new CEO, Linda Yaccarino, who is a 60-year-old New yorker and advertisement expert, from NBC Universal is about to take charge of the company around the corner, with the initiation of the new plan of action.
The tweet from Elon Musk is as follows “In a few weeks, X/Twitter will start paying creators for ads served in their replies. The first block payment totals $5M. Note, the creator must be verified and only ads served to verified users count.”
