Meta, the firm which every day gets into a new thing, may it be success or controversy. Recently, Meta recorded the highest fine it has paid till date. Meta was fined €1.2 billion for transferring data outside the European Union.

According to the General Data Protection Regulation privacy laws of Europe, companies have to follow the basic rules and guidelines set for them. Due to this, companies must follow the rules while transferring data outside the EU and thus, the EU protects user's data efficiently.

The Irish Data Protection Commission was looking into this case on the EU's behalf. With a legal procedure, Meta transferred data to the US but it blamed that it is risk to fundamental rights, freedom of data subjects.

Well, Meta is really disappointed with the EU's decision and described it as an 'unjustified process.' This was the third time in the year that Meta paid a penalty.
