India tops digital payments rankings globally: MyGovIndia

A staggering 89.5 million transactions helped India top the list for digital payments in 2022, surpassing four other nations. India accounted for 46% of all real-time payments made globally in 2022, the survey said. India has more digital payment transactions than the top four nations put together, the research claims. Brazil ranks second with 29.2 million transactions, just ahead of China in second with 17.6 million. According to data from MyGovIndia, South Korea came in second with 8 million digital transactions, followed by Thailand in fourth place with 16.5 million.  By providing the Incentive Scheme for the Promotion of RuPay Debit Cards and Low-Value BHIM-UPI Transactions for the current fiscal year, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is encouraging the use of digital payments.
