On 6th October 2022, Bharati Airtel launched 5G plus services in eight cities in India, which include Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Siliguri, Nagpur and Varanasi. Consumers who wish to use the 5G service will not have to change their SIM as the existing airtel 4G sim is now 5G enabled. The eight cities will have access to this network in a phased manner, as the company continues to construct its network and complete the rollout.
Here are some settings you will have to change on your phone to access Airtel's 5G networks:
1. Open the Settings on your phone and go to “Wi-Fi and Network“.
2. Then open the “SIM and Network” settings.
3. Now you will see the “Preferred network type” option here. Open it and choose “5G”
There you go! You are on 5G now!
But do note that for the above service to work, you must have a 5 G-compatible device. Currently, Airtel 5G is not available on iPhone in India, as Apple is yet to release an update that will make the iPhone compatible with Airtel’s 5G network. And about the plans - A 4G plan can be used to access Airtel’s 5G network since there are no separate plans for 5G yet.
The company promised that the new network will provide users with a brilliant voice experience, super fast call connection and 20-30 times more fast speed than the current network. Customers who have 5 G-enabled smartphones will get faster access to the network as they can simply update their existing plan. Gopal Vittal, the CEO of Airtel said that they wish to redefine the way people communicate, work and interact. The Airtel 5G plus network has wide acceptance and success globally and Airtel wishes to make this a great success in India as well.
