IPL plants trees on every dot ball. But are these trees actually saving the environment?

The program started in 2023 when Tata announced that 500 trees would be planted for every dot ball during the four playoff matches.

By 2024 the count had reached 3 lakh trees.

From 2025 onwards the announcement expanded to every match not just playoffs.

But the real question is where are these trees being planted?

A report suggests that around 17000 trees per match are needed to actually reduce pollution.

Yet apart from one BCCI post in 2024 there is no public record or update showing where these trees exist today.

Is this a genuine green initiative or just greenwashing?
