#TheUnsungHeros : Can a moment of embarrassment lead to a Padma Shri?
For Harekala Hajabba an orange seller from a small village near Bengaluru Karnataka it did.
Some foreigners asked him the price of oranges in English and he could not understand.
That moment hurt him so deeply that he decided his village children would not remain uneducated like him.
For 20 years he sold oranges, knocked on government office doors, gathered donations and finally built a proper school in his village.
His efforts were recognised in 2020 when he was awarded the Padma Shri one of India's highest civilian honours.
This story proves that no person is too small to change society. If you truly want to make a difference you can.
