Rajasthan Royals Dominate Lucknow to Hand them a Crushing Fourth Straight Defeat

The 32nd match of the IPL 2026 season witnessed a face-off between Lucknow Super Giants and Rajasthan Royals at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Playing on their home ground, Lucknow had the advantage of familiar conditions, but Rajasthan Royals delivered a commanding performance to secure a convincing 40-run victory. With this loss, Lucknow Super Giants suffered their fourth consecutive defeat, raising serious concerns about their form in the tournament.

Jadeja Anchors Rajasthan to a Competitive Total

Batting first, Rajasthan Royals posted a total of 159 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was held together by a determined and composed knock from Ravindra Jadeja, who remained unbeaten on 43 runs. His resilient batting played a crucial role in helping Rajasthan reach a defendable total.

On the bowling front for Lucknow, Mohammed Shami, Mohsin Khan, and Prince Yadav put in decent efforts, picking up two wickets each to restrict Rajasthan from posting an even bigger score.

Lucknow Collapse Under Pressure While Chasing

In response to the 160-run target, Lucknow Super Giants had a disastrous start. Ayush Badoni was run out in the very first over, setting the tone for what turned out to be a disappointing chase. Soon after, Rishabh Pant was dismissed for a duck, followed by Aiden Markram, who also failed to open his account. This meant that three of Lucknow’s top-order batters were dismissed without scoring, putting the team under immense pressure early in the innings.

Mitchell Marsh provided a glimmer of hope with a fighting half-century, trying to stabilize the innings. However, once he was dismissed, the rest of the batting lineup crumbled under pressure. The entire Lucknow team was bowled out for just 119 runs. Rajasthan’s bowling attack was led brilliantly by Jofra Archer, who claimed three crucial wickets.

Head-to-Head Record Favors Rajasthan

Looking at the historical record between the two sides, Rajasthan Royals have maintained a clear edge. Out of the six matches played between these teams so far, Rajasthan has emerged victorious in four encounters, while Lucknow has managed to win only twice. The statistics underline Rajasthan’s dominance, although Lucknow still boasts a strong lineup filled with star players.

Star-Studded Lucknow Lineup Fails to Deliver

Despite having a squad packed with experienced and high-profile players, Lucknow Super Giants failed to rise to the occasion. Their batting collapse exposed significant weaknesses in the top order, and the inability to handle pressure situations cost them dearly. This defeat has pushed Lucknow down to the 9th position in the points table, putting their playoff hopes in serious jeopardy if they fail to turn things around quickly.
