Ahead of the event, the Prime Minister’s Office had announced that over 51,000 appointment letters would be distributed under the 19th Rozgar Mela. The initiative is part of the government's broader commitment to prioritising employment generation and accelerate recruitment across ministries and departments.

Since the launch of the Rozgar Mela initiative in October 2022, around 12 lakh recruitment letters have been issued through the first 18 editions of the programme. The latest edition further expands this effort by providing opportunities to youth selected from every part of the country.

The newly recruited candidates are joining several ministries and departments, including the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of Financial Services, Department of Higher Education, ISRO, and other government organisations. Notably, more than 50 percent of the appointments made during the 19th Rozgar Mela are linked to the expanding sectors of Indian Railways.

‘You Are Partners in India’s Development Journey’: PM Modi

Addressing the newly appointed candidates, Prime Minister Modi congratulated them and their families, calling the day an important milestone in their lives. He said the recruits are becoming responsible stakeholders in the country's development journey and will play a vital role in achieving the goal of a developed India, or “Viksit Bharat,” by 2047.

The Prime Minister urged the new appointees to view government service not merely as a job but as an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in citizens’ lives. He emphasised that every government employee has a responsibility to simplify governance and improve public service delivery.

Highlighting the importance of citizen-centric governance, he encouraged recruits to follow the principle of “Nagrik Devo Bhava,” stressing that citizens must remain at the centre of all administrative efforts.

According to the Prime Minister, the newly appointed youth will take on responsibilities across crucial sectors such as railways, banking, defence, health, education and other public service domains, directly contributing to the country's progress in the coming years.

Global Confidence in India Creating New Opportunities

During his address, Modi underlined India's growing international stature and the increasing confidence global leaders and multinational companies have in the country’s youth and technological capabilities.

Referring to his recent five-nation visit covering the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, the United Arab Emirates and Italy, the Prime Minister said discussions during the trip reflected strong global enthusiasm about India’s future. He noted that governments and companies worldwide are eager to partner with India’s growth story.

He explained that every new investment, technology partnership and international collaboration is creating fresh opportunities for Indian youth. Particular emphasis was placed on emerging sectors such as semiconductors, where India is positioning itself as a major global player.

The Prime Minister said these investments are helping strengthen India’s innovation ecosystem while generating high-quality employment opportunities for the next generation.

Startup Boom and Emerging Sectors Driving Employment

Highlighting India's entrepreneurial transformation, Modi noted that the country now has more than 23.30 lakh recognised startups. He pointed out that innovation is no longer confined to metropolitan centres and is increasingly flourishing across Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.

The Prime Minister also praised the growing contribution of women entrepreneurs to India's economic development.

He further stated that significant investments in electronics manufacturing, green hydrogen, clean technologies and infrastructure development are opening new avenues of employment while promoting regional economic growth.

According to him, these sectors will play a critical role in shaping India's future workforce and creating opportunities for skilled young professionals.

Rozgar Mela Strengthening the Skills-to-Employment Pipeline

The government views the Rozgar Mela as more than a recruitment exercise. Officials said the initiative is helping bridge the gap between talent and employment by connecting qualified youth with meaningful public-sector opportunities.

The programme is also aimed at strengthening citizen-centric governance by bringing fresh talent into government institutions and improving service delivery mechanisms across the country.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, which highlighted the significance of the event, said the Rozgar Mela continues to be a key instrument for accelerating employment generation while supporting India's long-term development goals.
