Russian plane makes emergency landing in Siberian field, all passengers safe

Footage released by authorities shows the Ural Airlines plane in a field next to a forest in the Novosibirsk region. There were no casualties, according to the sources.

The plane made an unscheduled landing at 05:44 Moscow time (02:44 GMT) on the Sochi-Omsk route, according to Moscow's aviation agency Rosaviatsia. The agency reported that all passengers had been accommodated in the nearest village, and none of them requested medical assistance. The Russian Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case for the breach of air traffic safety regulations. They mentioned that the emergency landing was conducted 'due to a technical issue. Russia's aviation sector has been facing challenges in procuring new parts for aircraft repairs due to Western sanctions. Ural Airlines is a domestic Russian carrier headquartered in Yekaterinburg.
