A powerful 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck off Panama’s southern coast, triggering more than 100 reported aftershocks and damaging buildings and roads.

Amid the chaos, a viral video showed a shopkeeper trying to save liquor bottles as tremors shook the store, seemingly risking his safety to protect the stock.

The quake caused damage in several provinces, with a church bell tower collapsing and cracks appearing on roads. Several people were reportedly injured, but no deaths had been confirmed by Friday evening, according to the report.

Tsunami alerts were issued for parts of Central and South America before several warnings were lifted. Tocumen International Airport temporarily closed, while Panama Canal operations continued.
