3 dead in yet another US mass shooting, this time in the University of Nevada

Yet another mass shooting has occurred in the United States, this time at a university campus. UNLV shooting: Authorities responding to reports of multiple victims in  shooting

On December 6th, 2023, three people were killed and multiple others were injured in a mass shooting at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 AM PST in the Frank and Estella Beam Hall, a business school building, and the nearby student union.

The shooter, who is now deceased, was identified as 67-year-old Yiming Li. He reportedly used a handgun in the attack. Police responded to the scene within minutes and engaged the shooter in a shootout, ultimately killing him.

Three people were pronounced dead at the scene. A fourth person was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Four additional people were treated for panic attacks, and two officers were treated for minor injuries sustained during the search for additional victims or suspects.

The UNLV campus was placed on lockdown for several hours while police investigated the scene. The lockdown was lifted at approximately 4:30 PM PST.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has identified the suspect in the UNLV shooting as 67-year-old career college professor, Yiming Li. Li applied for a position at UNLV but was not hired. The motive for the shooting remains unknown.
