2 dead, 14 injured during the Juneteenth Celebration at Texas

A weekend shooting in a Texas park killed 2 people and injured 14 others, including two children, according to authorities. The event occurred shortly before 11 p.m. on Saturday (local time), at a Juneteenth Celebration around 30 km north of Austin.

An altercation between two groups broke out at the concert, resulting in the shooting, Round Rock Police Chief, Allen Banks, stated during a news conference at the scene. He reported that the two victims who were pronounced dead at the scene had no involvement in the argument. The incident occurred near a vendor area, away from the performance stage. 

Police officers and fire department officials present at the scene immediately began providing emergency medical care to the injured, who were eventually transferred to hospitals. In a recent update issued by Round Rock Police, it stated, "Round Rock Police have confirmed that 14 victims were transported to local hospitals with gunshot wounds, and two were declared deceased at the scene following a shooting at Old Settlers Park during Round Rock's annual Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 15th." They also stated that the Department is actively looking for a suspect in connection with the shooting. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the accused. 

Juneteenth, a federal holiday in the United States, is observed in June each year to commemorate the abolition of slavery.
