IMD predicts rainfall in Jharkhand until December 7th-
According to a weather official on Monday, Jharkhand is expected to experience light to moderate rainfall until December 7 due to the impact of Cyclone 'Michaung'. The Ranchi Meteorological Centre has also forecasted light rain in certain areas on Tuesday and light to moderate showers on December 6 and 7.
The Ranchi Meteorological Centre has stated that the minimum temperature in the state is expected to increase by two to three degrees Celsius within the next 24 hours, owing to the prevailing cloudy weather conditions. This trend is anticipated to persist until December 8, after which the minimum temperatures will gradually decrease, starting from December 9.
Cyclone 'Michaung' causes havoc in Chennai, claiming lives- Reports indicate that the city and nearby districts were relentlessly pounded by heavy showers on Monday due to the influence of a cyclonic storm. This storm is expected to make landfall in Andhra Pradesh on December 5th.
The city's infrastructure was put to the test as waterbodies overflowed and surplus water was released from the reservoirs. As a precautionary measure, power supply was suspended late on Sunday night, causing normal life to come to a halt. To ensure safety, over 9,600 people from northern coastal districts were relocated to 236 relief camps in eight different locations. The State agencies, along with the Army, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Fire and Rescue Services, and police personnel, worked together in the relief and rescue operations
The Railway Ministry has established an emergency control centre in Chennai and a war room at the Rail Bhawan in New Delhi, along with several other initiatives, to effectively address the challenges presented by the cyclonic storm 'Michaung'.

Section 144 imposed in Puducherry- Section 144 of CrPC is imposed on Beach Road in Puducherry to restrict the movement of people in preparation for Cyclone Michaung.
