Terrorist Ambush in J&K's Kathua: Four Soldiers Killed

A terrorist attack on a military convoy in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district killed four Army personnel and injured six others on Monday. The attack occurred on the Machedi-Kindli-Malhar road, approximately 150 kilometers from Kathua, while Army vehicles were on routine patrol.

The terrorists attacked the vehicle by throwing a grenade before opening fire. The security forces took revenge, but the attackers escaped to the nearby forest. The reinforcements were called in, and a search operation is currently underway. Intermittent gunfire continues between terrorists and security forces.

Recent Surge in Terrorist Activity:

This is another attack on the Indian Army in the Jammu region in the last 48 hours. On Sunday, an Army camp located in the Rajouri district was attacked, injuring one soldier.

Encounters in Kulgam District:

On Saturday, six terrorists and two soldiers were killed in separate encounters in Kulgam district. The first encounter in Modergam village resulted in the death of a paratrooper, while the second in Frisal killed Havaldar Raj Kumar of the 1 Rashtriya Rifles. The terrorists killed were Yawar Bashir Dar, Zahid Ahmad Dar, Tawheed Ahmad Rather, Shakeel Ahmad Wani, Faisal, and Adil.

Rising Terror Attacks in Jammu & Kashmir:

J&K has recently experienced an increase in terrorist attacks. Last month, nine pilgrims were killed when terrorists opened fire on their bus in Reasi district. Two armed terrorists additionally opened fire in a village, killing a CRPF personnel before being shot. Three terrorists were murdered in an intense gunfight in Doda district's Gandoh area, and an extensive cache of ammunition and weapons was discovered.

Government's stance:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi just stated in Parliament that the battle against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir has come to an end. He stressed the use of multiple strategies to remove the remaining terrorist network.
