Punjab: 1,647 Kg of Suspected adulterated sweets seized by Moga Health Department

The Moga health department in Punjab confiscated 1,647 kg of suspected adulterated food items and sweets on Tuesday, as per a report by Hindustan Times. This occurs when Diwali is just around the corner.

According to the report, the officials stated that these alleged compromised food items were transported from Jodhpur and Abohar to Moga for additional processing.

After learning of the altered sweets, Moga civil surgeon Dr. Rajesh Attri arrived at the Lakshmi Patisa plant on Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. The team seized 255 kg of khoya barfi and 1,392 kg of suspected adulterated milk cake from the Moga factory during the raids, according to HT.

The official added that samples of allegedly tampered sweets and food products had been sent to a lab for quality testing. According to Food Safety Inspector Yogesh Goyal, the owner will face the necessary consequences.

The Civil Surgeon has since advised all Moga citizens to keep in mind quality when buying sweets and other food items throughout the holiday season.

The official urged the store owners to stop using the public's health as a pawn in their business and advised them to report any suspicions of adulteration immediately to the Food Safety Team or the Health Department.
