Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the National Unity Day celebration at the Statue of Unity near Kevadia in Gujarat on October 31, marking the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India's first Home Minister. During the event, the Prime Minister led the pledge for the nation's integrity, unity, and security.
In his address, PM Modi emphasized the significance of the day in promoting unity and brotherhood in society. He acknowledged the diverse crowd present, highlighting that despite differences in states, languages, and traditions, everyone was united by a strong bond.
PM Modi likened Rashtriya Ekta Diwas to other national festivals like Independence Day and Republic Day, symbolizing the unity of the nation. He also stressed the educational aspect of the event, noting that visitors to Ekta Nagar not only witnessed the impressive Statue of Unity but also gained insights into Sardar Patel's life and his contributions to a united India.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister discussed India's development over the next 25 years, emphasizing the need to transform the country into a developed nation.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi paid floral tributes to Sardar Patel at the Statue of Unity, which was inaugurated on October 31, 2018.
The celebrations included a grand parade featuring contingents from the Border Security Force and Gujarat Police, a daredevil show by all-women CRPF Bikers, choreographed performances by Gujarat women police, an all-women pipe band of BSF, a special NCC show, an Indian Air Force flypast, and a display by school bands. These displays highlighted the economic viability of vibrant villages and paid tribute to Sardar Patel's life, sacrifices, and contributions to a united India.
In addition to these events, 'Run for Unity' was organized in various cities across the country, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah launching the event at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi.
