Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), also known as Atal Setu, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 12. The 6-lane sea link spans 16.50 km on sea and 5.5 km on land. Mumbai police efforts have led to the implementation of a speed limit on the longest sea bridge in India.

Restrictions imposed:
-Four-wheelers will be limited to a maximum speed of 100 kmph, while motorbikes, autorickshaws, and tractors will not be permitted on the bridge.
-A 100 km/h speed limit will apply to automobiles, taxis, light motor vehicles, minibuses, and two-axle buses.
-A 40 kmph speed limit will be in place on the bridge's ascent and descent.
-Trucks, buses, and multi-axle heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter the Eastern Freeway, and they will need to take the MBPT Road near "Gadi Adda" and the Mumbai Port-Sewri Exit.

- The bridge between Sewri in Mumbai and Nhava Sheva area in Raigad district is 21.8-kilometre long and will bring down the journey from the current two hours to around 15-20 minutes.
- Also known as Atal Setu, in honour of the late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
- The MTHL is India's first sea bridge to incorporate an Open Road Tolling (ORT) system, allowing vehicles to pass through toll booths at speeds of up to 100 kmph without stopping.

- According to officials, the MTHL is not just a transportation project but also an engine of economic growth.
- The MTHL has cost approximately ₹18,000 crore and is expected to see around 70,000 vehicles, with a focus on the growing traffic congestion in the region.
The MTHL is strategically designed to connect with the arterial Mumbai Pune Expressway, further enhancing connectivity between the state's two largest cities.
