Mumbai: The traffic and public transportation systems have been disrupted by the nonstop rains that have been mixed with sporadic heavy to moderate storms since Friday morning. As per a statement released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a high probability of intense rain spells happening in certain areas of Mumbai's districts over the next three to four hours. In its most recent warning, the IMD also issued a yellow caution for the Thane and Raigad areas.

IMD issues orange alert across MMR for Saturday
For Saturday, Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and the surrounding districts are under an Orange alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Local forecast for the next 24 hours for the city and suburbs of Mumbai: Rainfall in the suburbs and cities will be moderate to heavy. Potential for extremely high rainfall in isolated regions. According to the Regional Meteorological Department, the maximum and minimum temperatures will be roughly 29°C and 24°C, respectively.

Central Railway reschedules train from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus
The Central Railway has rescheduled the departure of the CSMT-REWA train from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. The train's number is 02188. It will now embark on its journey at 4:30 pm, as opposed to its original time, which was 1:30 pm.

High tide in the next few hours
A civic official stated that around 4.09 pm, the Arabian Sea will reach a high tide of 3.87 meters. Because Mumbai is shaped like a saucer, flooding can occur when heavy rains and high tides coincide because water isn't released into the sea at that time.

Waterlogging at Mumbai Airport
Mumbai Airport Terminal 2 has experienced waterlogging as a result of the city's heavy rains. The heavy downpour has overflowed drainage systems, causing water to build up in several parts of the terminal. Travelers may thus encounter flight delays and have trouble navigating the airport. To maintain safety and minimize disturbance, authorities are attempting to control the situation and clear the water. It is recommended that travellers stay informed about any changes to flight itineraries and arrive early to avoid any delays.

BEST buses rerouted due to waterlogging
A spokesman for Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) said that the public bus service authority has rerouted three bus routes because of waterlogging at Sion since 7.50 am amid the unceasing rains in Mumbai.
Mumbai's local train operators, Western Railway and Central Railway, asserted on X that their suburban services were "running." Even though there was no waterlogging on the tracks, travellers nonetheless reported experiencing some delays
- Waterlogging in several areas
Between 7 and 8 am, the city saw more than 15 mm of rainfall in several areas. In low-lying places like Sion, heavy rains resulted in waterlogging, prompting authorities to redirect traffic. During this morning's intense downpour, areas like King's Circle Road, P D'Mello Road, Sanpada Underpass, and others also faced waterlogging.
