IndiGo, India’s largest airline and a subsidiary of Interglobe Aviation, has earned an unwelcome title as one of the worst airlines in the world, according to a recent report by AirHelp Inc.
AirHelp Survey Rankings
The ranking, which evaluated airlines based on customer claims, on-time performance, food quality, comfort, and crew efficiency, places IndiGo in the 103rd position. AirHelp, an online service assisting passengers with compensation for flight disruptions, assessed data from 54 countries. Despite its prominence in India, IndiGo's global reputation has been marred by this latest ranking.
IndiGo's Shares Respond to Negative Report
The report had a noticeable impact on IndiGo’s stock. The airline’s shares fluctuated during early trading, initially falling by over 1%. Although there was a slight recovery, the value of the shares ultimately dropped by 0.86%, bringing them down to Rs 4,333.05 each. This marked a 0.50% decrease over the past five trading sessions, reflecting investor concern following the negative press.
IndiGo Denies the Allegations
In response to the ranking, IndiGo issued a statement dismissing the findings. The airline questioned the validity of the data used in the survey, pointing out that the sample size from India was not reported, and the methodology behind the rankings had not been made clear. IndiGo expressed its doubts over the credibility of the survey and criticized its approach.
