Gujarat Man Extorted Rs 1 crore from Youtuber Elvish Yadav to become a Millionaire Soon, Arrested

Once again, Elvish Yadav, a popular YouTuber with millions of subscribers and winner of "Bigg Boss OTT" has made headlines. This time, it's because a man from Gujarat was arrested by Gurugram Police on Thursday, 26 October after the YouTuber filed a complaint against the man who had demanded Rs 1 crore in a threatening extortion call.

Previously, He was in news to become the first wild card contestant to win the 'Bigg Boss OTT 2' hosted by Salman Khan. He secured the prestigious title along with a cash prize of Rs 25 lakh.

As per ACP (Crime) Varun Dahiya, on Wednesday, Elvish Yadav, a resident of Wazirabad, submitted a written complaint at Sector-53 Police Station. In his complaint, Yadav explained that upon returning to India with his friend, who also served as his manager, after a trip to London on October 17, he started receiving numerous threatening messages via WhatsApp. These messages initially demanded Rs 40 lakh from Yadav, but the accused later raised the demand to Rs 1 crore, along with threats of violence if the money was not paid.

The police successfully identified and arrested the accused, Saqeer Makrani, a 25-year-old resident of Vadnagar in Gujarat. Makrani worked as an agent at the Regional Transport Office (RTO). 

The accused was arrested with the collaboration of Gujarat Police by Gurugram Police. Varun Dahiya, ACP Crime Branch, pointed out, "Shakir Makrani, a resident of Vadnagar, was arrested by Gurugram Police in collaboration with Gujarat Police.

ACP Dahiya stated that the accused was greatly influenced by Elvish Yadav and his lifestyle after watching his videos on YouTube. In the aspiration to become a millionaire soon, the accused saw extortion as an effortless means to achieve this goal. 

In executing the Extortion, he acquired a fake SIM card for Rs 1,400, utilising it to send threatening messages as part of the extortion plan. The police officially verified the confiscation of both the fraud SIM cards and a mobile phone from the accused.

ACP Dahiya also mentioned that they intend to take legal action against the accused and work on preventing similar incidents in the future. Further questioning of the accused will be conducted to ascertain the modus operandi and motive behind the crime.

Now the accused is being transferred to Gurugram on a transit remand to investigate further on the case and checking whether the call was made by himself or under the instructions of another individual.
