Commuter Chaos in Delhi: 16 Metro Stations Shut Down Due to Ongoing Student Protests

Daily commuters and office-goers in the national capital faced severe disruptions today as the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced the sudden closure of 16 key metro stations. The drastic measure was taken citing urgent security reasons amidst the intensifying student protests led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak.

Key Details of the Disruption:

• Stations Closed: A total of 16 stations in and around Central Delhi have been closed until further instructions. The affected stations include major transit hubs like Lok Kalyan Marg, Janpath, Patel Chowk, Barakhambha Road, ITO, and Supreme Court.

• Interchange Allowed: To minimize massive network paralysis, the DMRC has confirmed that interchange facilities will remain operational at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, and Central Secretariat. However, passengers are not allowed to enter or exit the station premises at these locations.

• Traffic Diversions: Anticipating further escalation at the Jantar Mantar protest site and Parliament vicinity, Delhi Police has heavily barricaded Central Delhi and issued multiple traffic diversion advisories.

• Commuter Advisory: Authorities have urged citizens to check official DMRC social media updates and plan alternative routes before stepping out.

With the political and on-ground situation remaining tense, heavy security forces, including Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel, have been deployed across the New Delhi district.
