Bomb scares cause chaos for Indian airlines; 24 flights affected
Twenty-four flights operated by Indian carriers, including IndiGo, Vistara, Air India, and Akasa Air, have been hit by bomb threats on Sunday. These threats affect both domestic and international routes, causing severe inconveniences. The repeated scares are triggering worries about passengers and tourism.
IndiGo, Vistara among affected airlines
Due to this, IndiGo has reported threats on flights from Jeddah to Mumbai, Kozhikode to Dammam, Delhi to Istanbul, and many more. Vistara also reported such threats on some routes, including Delhi to Frankfurt, Singapore to Mumbai, Bali to Delhi, and several more. It alerted the authorities and took safety measures.
Akasa Air Receives Security Alerts as Well
One of the other affected airlines was Akasa Air. They followed the security procedures to the dot; their captains and crew rushed into activating their emergency procedures and co-coordinating with the local authorities. All the aircraft were checked in detail, and the aircraft were cleared to be flown further.
Increasing Bomb Threats is Abetting Concern
More than 90 bomb threats that have surfaced in the city in just this week alone-most of them hoaxes-have left passengers of all kinds fighting multiple shocks. Though none of these turned out to be true, repeated disturbances are unsettling. For commuters who might have their important work or appointments, such incidents involve colossal inconveniences, and perhaps, deter tourists from traveling into India.
Indian Aviation Authority Reacts
While such threats are aplenty, the Ministry of Civil Aviation in concert with the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security BCAS has been taking it quite seriously. The Director General of BCAS Zulfiquar Hasan assures that the skies are safe and protocols are strictly followed. However, the threats seem to be recurring and have managed to inject fear into the minds of the passengers who are concerned about their bearing on flight schedules.
Government Promises Action
There has been a promising response from the Asangba Chuba, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, that the government is working hand in glove to devise solutions so that such glitches do not recur. Severe warnings have been issued to those responsible, with promises of severe action.
Turbulent times for passengers and tourism
Passengers who rely on flights for work or private commitments are increasingly frustrated with these repeated interruptions. In the case of tourism, such threats could escalate to hesitation when a tourist decides to visit India, thus affecting India's tourism sector.
