A 5.6-magnitude earthquake occurred on Monday in west Nepal, and the National Centre for Seismology reported that powerful aftershocks were detected in certain areas of north India.
Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, was located 233 miles north of the epicentre of the earthquake, according to the report. People in Delhi and the National Capital Region reported shaking furniture frantically as a result of the earthquake.A number of people posted pictures on social media showing people leaving residential buildings.
The strongest earthquake to hit Nepal since 2015, with a magnitude of 6.4, ripped through hundreds of homes in the remote mountainous part of the country, killing at least 157 and injuring over 160.Nepal is often struck by earthquakes since it is situated in seismic zones IV and V, two of the most active tectonic zones on the globe.
