Gaya, Bihar: As part of the ongoing multinational maritime exercise Milan-24, around 200 naval officers from 40 countries, including the United States, Japan, Australia, France, Bangladesh, South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia, paid tribute to Lord Buddha in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, on Saturday.
These naval officers are participating in the nine-day mega exercise currently underway in Visakhapatnam, which involves a total of 51 navies from around the world.
During their visit to Bodh Gaya, the officers had the opportunity to learn about the teachings of peace and harmony associated with Buddhism. The naval contingent also participated in a ceremony under the Bodhi tree, reciting peace mantras and praying for prosperity.
Following their cultural exchange visit, the officers will return to Visakhapatnam to continue their participation in Exercise Milan-24. This excursion aimed to promote cultural understanding and cooperation among participating nations. Speaking to Vygr News, Dinanath Bhagnte Bhikkhu from the Bodh Gaya said the contingent came to seek the blessing of the Holy Buddha, and such a visit is not surprising as the navy frequently visits the shrine.
On Friday, the Ambassador of South Korea to India, Chang Jae-bok, was named president of Bodh Gaya Temple Advisory Board (BTAB), District Magistrate Dr. Tyagrajan SM said. The temple authority is working on increasing the tourist flow and setting up solar panels, Vygr News learned on Friday.
In Friday's meeting, Superintendent of Police Ashish Bharti stated that all necessary steps will be taken to strengthen the security arrangements at the Mahabodhi Temple. He assured better facilities for tourists and made Bodh Gaya a safe and enjoyable tourist destination.
