Environmental Impact and Benefits

The programme's objective is to increase residential rooftop solar capacity by 30 GW, producing 1,000 billion units of electricity and lowering CO2 equivalent emissions by 720 million metric tonnes over the rooftop systems' 25-year lifespan. In addition to saving money on electricity costs, households will be able to increase their revenue by selling any extra power they produce to Discoms.
