The Indian Chartered Accountancy (CA) exam is conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). It is a rigorous, three-level exam that tests the knowledge and skills of aspiring chartered accountants.

The CA exam is divided into two sections: the Common Proficiency Test (CPT) and the Integrated Professional Competence Course (IPCC). To become a chartered accountant in India, you must pass both sections of the exam.

The CPT is the first level of the CA exam and tests candidates' knowledge of fundamental accounting principles and basic business laws. Candidates must pass the CPT to be eligible to take the IPCC.

The IPCC is the second level of the CA exam and tests candidates' knowledge of advanced accounting principles, tax laws, and other specialized topics.

After passing the IPCC, candidates must complete a practical training program (called the "Articleship"), which typically lasts for 3 years. During this period, candidates must work under the supervision of a practicing chartered accountant and gain practical experience in various aspects of the profession.

Once the training period is complete, candidates must pass the final level of the CA exam, called the Chartered Accountancy Final Exam. This exam tests candidates' knowledge of advanced accounting and financial reporting principles, as well as their ability to apply that knowledge in real-world situations.

To become a chartered accountant in India, candidates must pass all three levels of the CA exam and complete their practical training program.

ICAI also conducts an CA Final Exam (Old Course) and Final Exam (New Course) every year, In recent years ICAI has started conducting the CA Final Exam twice a year in the month of May and November respectively.

The exam is conducted in two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The morning session is for the Paper 1, 2 and 4 while the afternoon session is for the Paper 3 and 5. The exam pattern is objective as well as subjective.

ICAI provides various study materials and video lectures for the CA final exam and also conducts various revision and mock test classes for the candidates. They also conduct CA foundation and CA intermediate coaching for the student who have just passed their 10th and 12th respectively.
