Xiaomi is poised to join the electric car market and has even applied for a license in China. The first images of the car, the SU7 have surfaced online. Production is scheduled to kick off in December 2023, raising the possibility of the car hitting the roads as early as next year.
In March 2021, Xiaomi revealed its venture into the electric vehicle market. Since then, tech enthusiasts have eagerly anticipated details about the car's design and specifications, fueling ongoing speculation and excitement. Finally, images of the car's appearance are available, and on Twitter, some users describe it as a blend of Tesla and Porsche.
According to reports, the production of the SU7 is slated for December 2023, and there are indications that deliveries could commence in February 2024. It's important to note that this information should be approached with caution, as Xiaomi has not officially confirmed a specific date for the availability of the vehicles on the road.
As per reports, Xiaomi has initiated trial production of its inaugural electric vehicle at a facility near Beijing's outskirts. A source familiar with the matter informed the Chinese media outlet National Business Daily on Wednesday that the vehicle will hit the market as early as February.
The Xiaomi SU7 boasts a length of approximately five meters and a wheelbase stretching 3,000 millimetres, surpassing the size of numerous mid-size sedans like Tesla's Model 3. With a total mass of 2,430 kg and a curb weight of 1,980 kg, it combines substantial dimensions with efficient design.
Reports also suggested that Xiaomi and Huawei, prominent Chinese technology giants, have the potential to emerge as significant players in the electric vehicle (EV) sector. Their advanced intelligent capabilities and expansive sales network pose challenges for many carmakers to replicate.
