With a total passenger occupancy of 66,307 on the nine trains outfitted with the Vistadome coaches, Central Railway has seen great success with the product. During the six-month period from November 2022 to April 2023, this performance resulted in sales of Rs 8.41 crore.
These coaches, which feature glass tops and large windowpanes, have become favourites among travellers thanks to their panoramic views that enthral passengers, particularly those of the breathtaking Western Ghats along the Mumbai-Pune route.In the upward direction (from Pune to Mumbai), the Pune-Mumbai Pragati Express experienced an impressive occupancy rate of almost 100%, producing Rs. 6.96 crore in revenue. Similar results were achieved by the Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai Deccan Express, which saw 15,564 passengers and an impressive 98.8% occupancy rate, generating Rs. 1.18 crore in revenue.
In 2018, the Mumbai-Madgaon Janshatabdi Express served as the first CR train to have Vistadome carriages. With effect from September 15, 2022, a second Vistadome coach will be available on the Tejas Express' Mumbai-Madgaon route due to increasing passenger demand.These coaches were added to the Mumbai-Pune Deccan Express on June 26, 2021, due to their enormous popularity. Two more Vistadome coaches were added to the Deccan Queen and Pragati Express starting on July 25, 2022, and August 15, 2021, respectively, in response to passenger demand. The Shatabdi Express between Pune and Secunderabad will also now include a Vistadome carriage as of August 10, 2022.
Along with having glass roofs, the Vistadome coaches also have wide windowpanes, LED lighting, rotating seats, pushback chairs, electrically powered automatic sliding compartment doors, wide side sliding doors for Divyangs, and bathrooms with ceramic tile floors.
