Elon Musk stated that long-form videos will soon be accessible on smart televisions, indicating that social network X is gearing up to launch a TV app for Amazon and Samsung users next week, Fortune Magazine reported.
Last October, X introduced an initial version of video and audio calling for select users, aligning with Musk's vision to transform it into a super application providing a range of services from messaging to peer-to-peer payments.
Fortune previously reported that the upcoming app might bear a resemblance to Google's YouTube TV app as Musk aims to challenge YouTube's stronghold in the digital video landscape. The app's interface is said to be similar like that of YouTube's TV app.
“Coming soon,” Musk said in a brief response on X to a user’s posting that the platform’s long-form videos could be watched directly on smart TVs.

As X strives to position itself as a "video-first platform," it has been actively forming partnerships with notable personalities such as former Fox commentator Tucker Carlson and former CNN anchor Don Lemon.
Recent developments in X
X, formerly known as Twitter, has unveiled a new feature called "Articles." The Articles feature empowers X users to share comprehensive content on the platform, including images, videos, GIFs, posts, links, and plain text. The official blog post highlights users' ability to format their articles using various options such as headings, subheadings, bold, italics, strikethrough, indentation, numerical, and bulleted lists.
Additionally, the platform, which has faced challenges in retaining advertisers since Musk's acquisition in 2022, announced last month its plans to enable advertisers to run video ads alongside content from certain creators.
