IT conglomerate Wipro has begun offering lower salary packages to new hires as a result of the global worsening of macroeconomic conditions. When they were offered a Rs 6.5 lakh package, fresher candidates are being asked to join Wipro for Rs 3.5 lakh.
According to reports, Wipro has been writing to candidates to ask if they would be willing to accept a lower offer than the one initially made to them. According to a Moneycontrol report, Wipro allegedly asked freshers who had been offered a CTC package worth Rs 6.5 lakh to take up a package worth Rs 3.5 lakh instead.
Wipro has also put off the onboarding of new employees for the class of 2022 in the midst of economic uncertainty, pressure on margins, and worries about a possible recession.
