With plans to increase its footprint in India, Foxconn has partnered up with STMicroelectronics NV for a bid to build a semiconductor factory in India.
According to sources Taiwan’s Foxconn and Franco-Italian STMicro are applying for state support to build a 40-nanometer chip plant, the company may be looking to produce mature chips that can be used in cars, cameras, printers, and a wide variety of other machines.
With India’s dedication to boosting chip outputs and reducing the dependence on expensive imports, Foxconn will find a very competitive and fast-growing industry in India. US memory chip company Micron Technology Inc. has already announced a $2.75 billion assembly and testing facility in India.
As of now, sources have stated that New Delhi has asked Foxconn for more details about its partnership with STMicro.
