Virat Kohli fined for breaching IPL code of conduct

Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli has been fined 10% of his match money for breaking the IPL's Code of Conduct during Royal Challengers Bangalore's recent match against Chennai Super Kings. Article 2.2 of the code was deemed to have been broken by Kohli, who only scored six runs.

The breach may have been caused by Kohli's response to CSK's Shivam Dube's firing, although the specifics of the incident are unknown. Dube played an excellent game, scoring 52 runs in just 27 balls as CSK posted a startling 226/6, which was too much for RCB to overcome.

Kohli's sentence was affirmed in an IPL explanation that additionally uncovered that the batsman had owned up to the Level 1 offense charge. A match referee's decision regarding a Level 1 violation is final and binding under the IPL's disciplinary rules.

The IPL match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium was ruined by an ugly fight between MI bowler Hrithik Shokeen and interim KKR captain Nitish Rana. Both players were issued warnings for breaking the IPL's Code of Conduct after the game.

Bollywood star Anushka Sharma was with Kohli at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Sharma was caught on camera saying, "They love him," as he sat with RCB executives and seemed to be enjoying the support for CSK captain MS Dhoni.

The RCB campaign continues despite the setback, and on April 20, they will play Punjab Kings in Mohali. The team will try to get back on track after losing to CSK and keep trying to get into the playoffs.

With a net run rate of -0.318, RCB, which has lost three of its last five games, is ranked seventh, just below KKR.
