Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan were recently snubbed from the 16-man squad against the Afghanistan series starting from January 11th. Their exclusion from the squad created a buzz around the cricketing world as they recently played in the South Africa series.
Before the South African test squad was announced, wicketkeeper batter Ishan Kishan opted out of the test series after citing personal reasons. A few reports stated that Ishan was seen partying with former India captain MS Dhoni in Dubai after he opted out of the test series. He also appeared on a TV show without taking the permission from BBCI which led him to be dropped from the Afghanistan T20I series.
On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer asked the selectors for some time off after the South Africa series but he was later dropped from the T20Is against Afghanistan because he did not feature in the Ranji Trophy first round despite instructions. Shreyas has now made himself available for the Ranji Trophy game and has been added in the Mumbai squad against Andhra Pradesh which is starting from 12 January.
India take on Afghanistan for the first T20I in Mohali tomorrow at 7 pm.
