Sachin Tendulkar, the legendary Indian cricketer, has been named the Global Ambassador for the 2023 Men's Cricket World Cup by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Tendulkar, known as the Master Blaster, will kick off the tournament by presenting the Men's Cricket World Cup Trophy before the opening match at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.
Tendulkar expressed his excitement, reflecting on his personal journey from being a ball boy in 1987 to representing India in six World Cup editions. He mentioned the pride of winning the 2011 World Cup and hoped that this event would inspire young athletes to pursue their dreams in sports.
The ICC has also gathered an impressive lineup of ambassadors for this historic World Cup, including cricket legends like Vivian Richards, AB de Villiers, Eoin Morgan, Aaron Finch, Muttiah Muralitharan, Ross Taylor, Suresh Raina, Mithali Raj, and Mohammad Hafeez. These icons will engage with fans, provide expert analysis, and attend select matches, enhancing the overall experience.
The 2023 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, featuring 48 matches across 10 venues, begins on October 5th with England facing New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The tournament will culminate in the final on November 19th at the world's largest cricket stadium.
