On Friday, the BCCI revealed the squads for both the men's and women's teams participating in the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games. The tournament is scheduled to take place from September 23 to October 8. Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead the men's team, which includes talented players such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rahul Tripathi, Tilak Varma, and Rinku Singh, among others. Standby players for the men's team include Yash Thakur, Sai Kishore, Venkatesh Iyer, Deepak Hooda, and Sai Sudharsan. Shivam Dube, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, and Prabhsimran Singh have been selected for the team on the strength of their outstanding performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Dube had a breakthrough season and played a crucial role in helping CSK win their fifth title. The squad also includes wicketkeeper batter Jitesh Sharma and left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh. The Asian Games last featured cricket in 2014, during which India did not participate. Earlier this month, the BCCI Apex Council approved the participation of the men's and women's teams.

On the other hand, the women's team will have Harmanpreet Kaur as the captain, with Smriti Mandhana as her deputy. Harleen Deol, Kashvee Gautam, Sneh Rana, Saika Ishaque, and Pooja Vastrakar are on the standby list. Titas Sadhu, a promising young fast bowler who showcased her talent in India's victorious campaign at the inaugural U-19 Women's World Cup in South Africa, has been included in the squad. It's worth noting that the 18-year-old is not part of the current Indian squad playing in Bangladesh.
