Steve Smith won the toss and decided to bat against India in the fourth Test on Thursday in Ahmedabad, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese were present.
The two captains, Smith and Rohit Sharma, each received a Test cap from their respective prime ministers, Anthony Albanese and Narendra Modi, prior to the toss.
A lap of honour was also completed by Modi and Albanese to commemorate the 75 years of India and Australia's friendship.
Ravi Shastri then explained to Modi and Albanese the pictures of some major events played between the two teams as they looked at a few photos of notable times between India and Australia.
After the two captains introduced them to the players, Modi and Albanese went onto the field with them.
While Mohammed Shami took the place of Mohammed Siraj in the Indian team, Australia’s team stayed unchanged.
