In their second consecutive Women's Premier League (WPL) game of the 2024 season, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Gujarat Giants Women with ease.
Fantastic Batting Performance by RCB
Smriti Mandhana's rapid 43 off 27 balls was the high point of the RCB batting lineup's bid to reach their target of 108. Ellyse Perry and Sabbhineni Meghana both made big contributions, allowing their teams to win with eight wickets left after scoring unbroken scores of 23 off 14 and 36 off 28, respectively.
Excellent bowling performance
Playing first was a wise move for RCB since their bowlers, particularly Renuka Singh and Sophie Molineux, had excellent spells. Renuka's strike rate of 2/14, which included 18 dot balls, set the tone by eliminating the opposing team's main hitters early on. Molineux's 3/25 performance and the efforts of bowlers like Georgia Wareham, Asha Sobhana, and Sophie Devine made Gujarat's task of scoring runs even more challenging.
The points table
RCB is currently in first place in the points table after winning both of their games. They have four points and a better net-run rate than the Mumbai Indians. A big part of their early-season success in the league has been their great play all over the court. On the other hand, Gujarat Giants Women are at the bottom of the table because they have lost their last two games.
