RCB's Rajat Patidar won't play IPL

Royal Challengers Bangalore has suffered a significant setback as a result of the news that Rajat Patidar will not play in the IPL 2023 season. The team announced in a statement on Tuesday, April 4, that Rajat Patidar would not be participating for the remainder of the season.

Patidar was recovering at Bengaluru's National Cricket Academy (NCA) from a heel injury when he arrived at the RCB camp.

Due to an injury, the Madhya Pradesh player was unable to participate in RCB's inaugural match against the Mumbai Indians on Sunday in Bengaluru. Prior to the game, RCB head coach Sanjay Bangar said the squad was anticipating Patidar will eventually return.

However, the top-order batter will not participate in any games this season, as RCB confirmed on Tuesday. The RCB explanation read:

"Rajat Patidar, regrettably, will not participate in the 2023 IPL due to a weak region injury. Rajat will continue to receive our assistance as we pray for a speedy recovery for him. Rajat's replacement has not yet been announced by management or coaches."

At a strike rate of 152.75, Rajat Patidar scored 333 runs in just seven innings. He hammered his lady IPL century (112*) in the eliminator game against the Lucknow Super Giants.
