Cricket is a game of talent, passion, and unpredictability. Each year, new talents emerge while old ones fade away. While some athletes leave their imprint by reliable performances, others astound everyone with their talent. As the IPL 2024 begins, here are five players who are expected to shine and thrill the fans with their skills.
Yashasvi Jaiswal
The Rajasthan Royals opener had an outstanding IPL 2023 performance, amassing 623 runs with a strike rate of slightly under 164. Yashasvi Jaiswal is an attacking opening batsman who can handle both pace and spin, and his style of play is virtually exactly like that of Virender Sehwag. He wrapped his historic Test series against England on a strong note just before moving on to the IPL. In the squad sheet, Jaiswal's name was most likely entered before that of Sanju Samson, the captain. In the first game against Lucknow Super Giants, Yashasvi got off to a good start but was unable to convert it into a significant total, even though his team won.
Sameer Rizvi
Defending champions Chennai Super Kings spent a hefty INR 8.4 crore on Sameer Rizvi, an explosive hitter from Meerut. With several of its players nearing the conclusion of their careers, CSK will soon be entering a transitional phase. After his heroics in the first UPT20 competition, where he amassed two centuries and finished with 455 runs, Rizvi took center stage. In CSK's second game of the season, we got a glimpse of this burgeoning star as he smashed a few boundaries as soon as he entered the crease. Without a doubt, he is the one to be cautious of.
Rinku Singh
With his recent form, Rinku Singh is most likely going to be the most significant batsman for the Kolkata Knight Riders this season. This season will be significant for him because the T20 World Cup is quickly approaching. In the IPL 2023, Rinku amassed 474 runs at a strike rate over 149, most of which came from batting at numbers five and six. His ability to strike the ball hard right away, as well as his finishing abilities, make him a player to watch this season.
Jitesh Sharma
Jitesh Sharma is an Indian wicketkeeper-batsman and the son of Pramod Sharma, a former Ranji Trophy player. He was included in the Indian T20 team for the 2023 series against Sri Lanka. In the opening game, he made his debut, hitting an explosive 45 off 25 balls. He also impressed with his glove technique and quick reflexes behind the wicket. He is a fearless batsman capable of taking on any bowling attack. He is a valuable asset to any team and will most likely solidify his place on the Indian side and in the IPL by 2024.
Rachin Ravindra
The left-handed hitter, who also bowls quick left-arm spin, starred at the Men's ODI World Cup in India, placing fourth in runs scored with 578 at an average of 64. In addition, he amassed three centuries and two half-centuries, including an undefeated 123 against England in Ahmedabad during the tournament's opening match. The Chennai Super Kings selected him for INR 1.8 crore as a result of his performances. With Ruturaj Gaikwad taking over as captain for CSK, Ravindra is the new opener after teammate Devon Conway sustained a thumb injury.
