Paris Olympics 2024 Day 6 Live Updates: PV Sindhu knocked out, Lakshya reaches quarters

On Thursday, August 1, the Indian contingent is expected to experience one of its busiest days at the Paris Olympics. On Thursday, the players are slated for three medal rounds, and the day is expected to be busy from the outset. The 20km event finals will include action early in the day for both men's and women's racewalkers. For the Indian badminton contingent, the men's singles Round of 16 match between HS Prannoy and Lakshya Sen is sure to be heartbreaking later in the day. One of the players is expected to be knocked out in this round, and it will mark the end of a maiden Olympics campaign for one of those two players.

LAKSHYA SEN BAGS A COMFORTABLE WIN!! Lakshya bags the second Game by 21-6 and HS Prannoy was never able to stage a comeback into the game. Lakshya will now head into the quarter-final where he will face Chinese Taipei's 12th-ranked shuttler, Chou Tien Chen. The hopes of India's glory in badminton remain alive with the ace shuttler.

We are in for a unique clash where Lakshya Sen takes on his own compatriot HS Prannoy in their Men's Singles Round of 16 clash at Paris Olympics.

After winning the first set, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty lost successive sets and the big quarter-final match also. They are now officially out of the Paris Olympics 2024.

India's Priyanka finishes 41st in women's 20kn racewalk final event. She finishes with a timing of 1:39:55, 14 minutes behind winner Jiayu Wang (1:25:54).

► HOCKEY: FIRST DEFEAT FOR INDIA 

Heartbreaking!!! India lose their first game at the Paris Olympics 2024 to Belgium in a thrilling 2-1 game. They will now face Australia in their next pool game. 

► BOXING: NIKHAT ZAREEN KNOCKED OUT 

Indian boxer Nikhat Zareen was eliminated in the Women's 50kg round of 16. Wu Yu beats Nikhat Zareen 5:0 on points to advance to the quarter-final.

► Boxing: Nikhat Zareen lost 1st round 1-4

Nikhat Zareen falls behind in the first round, as Wu Yu wins the opening round. Nikhat is taking some time to observe. Although it is early in the round, the Chinese fighter has landed more in the opening 90 seconds. Four of five judges gave the Chinese a flawless score of 10.

Vikash Singh drops to 29th

We have reached the halfway mark of the men's 20km racewalk. India's Vikash Singh has dropped to 29th among 49 athletes with a split of 40:27s. Paramjeet Singh is 43rd at the moment with a split of 41:17s. Brazil's Calo Bonfim is leading the race at the moment with a split of 40:21s.

Vikash Singh is leading India's surge and is presently placed 21st. The racer from India finished the first five kilometers in twenty minutes and twenty seconds. Jose Luis of Mexico is currently rated number one.
