Paris Olympics 2024, Day 2: India medals tally and winners list

India has sent a formidable contingent of 117 athletes to the Paris Olympics 2024, who will compete across 16 sports. The team comprises a mix of seasoned Olympians and promising new talent, including five former Olympic medal winners: Neeraj Chopra (javelin), PV Sindhu (badminton), Mirabai Chanu (weightlifting), Lovlina Borgohain (boxing), and the men’s hockey team. The contingent features 70 male and 47 female athletes.

Athletics has the highest representation with 29 athletes, followed by shooting with 21 participants. Other notable Indian athletes participating in the Paris Games include tennis veteran Rohan Bopanna, world champion boxer Nikhat Zareen, and young shooting sensation Manu Bhaker.

India began their Olympic campaign on 25 July with the individual ranking round in archery, preceding the official opening ceremony on 26 July. The first official day of competition for India was 27 July, starting with the 10m air rifle mixed team event.

The 2024 Summer Olympic Games are set to conclude on 11 August. Historically, India has won a total of 35 medals in the Summer Olympics: 10 gold, nine silver, and 16 bronze. The Tokyo 2021 Olympics was a milestone for India, securing seven medals – the highest tally in a single edition.
