Novak Djokovic says, young players have roused his inner 'beast'

Novak Djokovic the 24-time Grand Slam champion recently said that the young players have awakened his inner beast in him and his hunger for winning
more championships will only grow. Novak Djokovic ended his 2023 run by winning 3 out of 4 Grand Slams, two more than Rafael Nadal and four more than Roger Federer.

Young talents in the tournament like Carlos Alcaraz, Casper Ruud, and Jannik Sinner have given Djokovic a hard time on the courts but he finds a way to motivate and push himself harder despite the young challengers.

The 2023 season was challenging for Djokovic at times, with Carlos Alcaraz taking away Novak’s dream to win the Wimbledon title again and Jannik Sinner stamping on Novak’s dream to win the Davis Cup. Djokovic in a recent interview on CBS News Program “60 Minutes” said “The young guys who are very hungry and very inspired to play their best tennis against me is an additional motivation”, “I think they kind of awaken a beast in me”

According to Djokovic, Alcaraz has grown to be a serious threat to all the players, even though, Djokovic recently defeated him at the Roland Garros semifinal, in 2023 as the Spain-born player experienced full body cramps.  Djokovic’s defeat at Wimbledon got him more confidence as a player to do
even better at the last Grand Slam of the year, the U.S. Open where he clinched his 24th Grand Slam win.
