Olympic and world champion javelin thrower, Neeraj Chopra, has earned a spot as one of the 11 nominees for the prestigious 2023 men's World Athlete of the Year award. This honour is a testament to his remarkable achievements in the world of athletics.

Chopra's nomination is the result of the collective decision of an international panel of athletics experts representing all six continental areas of World Athletics. These nominations showcase outstanding performances witnessed at events like the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, one-day meeting circuits, Label road races, and various other competitions worldwide, as confirmed by the international governing body of the sport.

The Path to Victory
The finalists for the 2023 World Athlete of the Year award will be determined through a three-way voting process. The World Athletics Council and the World Athletics Family will have the opportunity to cast their votes by email, while fans worldwide can participate by voting online through the World Athletics social media platforms.
Each 'like' on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, or a retweet on Twitter, will be considered one vote. The voting system comprises the World Athletics Council's vote accounting for 50% of the final result, with the World Athletics Family and public votes each contributing 25% to the ultimate outcome.
The voting window will close at midnight on October 28. Subsequently, World Athletics will announce the five male and five female finalists on November 13-14. The world will eagerly anticipate the winners, who will be unveiled on December 11 through World Athletics' social media platforms.
