The heroics of Mohammed Siraj against the visitors Sri Lanka and New Zealand in the ODI series have given him another feather in his cap – claiming the spot of No.1 bowler in ODIs, with a rating of 729 in the latest bowlers rankings.
Siraj gets ahead of the kiwi pacer Trent Boult and Australian speedster Josh Hazlewood on the list.
The role of Siraj in the powerplays was very well discussed by the Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma in the past few games.
“He is aware of what the team needs and that automatically makes our job easier in attacking in the initial overs"
“Skills of having the bowl to seam into the batsmen is what makes Siraj more of a first-choice pacer," said the Indian Captain.
Siraj has been spot-on with his opening spells from one end and the consistency of picking up wickets on a regular base. This has pushed him 11 spots ahead in the ranking making him clinch the top spot in the latest ODI rankings.
