In the middle phase of the match, the spin pair of Wellalage and Charith Asalanka (4/18) wreaked havoc, eventually dismissing India in 49.1 overs. Rohit Sharma led India's scoring with 53 runs, but a short rain delay interrupted play, leaving only three overs for India to complete their innings.
Sri Lanka's batting faltered under pressure, as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah were the stars of the show for India, with impressive bowling performances.
Sri Lanka wrapped up their innings at 172 in 41.3 overs. Wellalage emerged as the standout performer for Sri Lanka, excelling not just with the ball but also with the bat, contributing an unbeaten 42 runs in a stellar all-around display.
