Luis Suarez in tears as Uruguay crash out despite 2-0 win

The FIFA World Cup Group stages have come to an end on 2nd December as the closure of Group G and Group H took place.

Group G had already seen Brazil Qualify earlier after they won their first two games against Serbia and Switzerland. Yesterday's day was all about the match between the 2 teams which had lost to Brazil already as the winner would have qualified for the next round. Cameroon who was already eliminated from the world cup had a shock win against Brazil as they won 1-0 thanks to a Goal from V. Aboubakar in the dying minutes of the game.

He scored the goal in the 92nd minute (2nd minute of extra time) to secure 3 points for Cameroon Making sure they didn't end their campaign at the bottom of the table. Meanwhile, there was a goal-packed game between Serbia and Switzerland to who will qualify for the knockout stages. A total of 5 goals were scored during the game. There were goals from 5 different players making the game more interesting. The latest goal came in the 48th minute as R. Freuler scored the 3rd goal for Switzerland from there the Swiss played a defensive game making sure that they didn't fall back on the points table and securing their spot in the last 16.

Despite Brazil losing their game to Cameroon, they finished top of their group on Goal difference ahead of Switzerland.

Meanwhile, Group H seemed to be even more intense. Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal which was already through to the last 16 made 6 changes in their lineup against Korea Republic giving rest to their key players. Korea faced Portugal as Luis Suarez Uruguay faced Ghana. Ghana and Uruguay seemed one of the favourites to grab the 2nd place spot. Ghana was also looking to get revenge on Luis Suarez for the incident which took place back in 2010 when he denied them from becoming the first African Nation to reach the Semifinals.

Ghana missed a penalty in the early minutes of the game and Uruguay pounded them with 2 goals in the first half. Suarez assisted both with goals from De Arrascaeta in the 26th and 32nd minutes of the game. Uruguay seemed to be favourites to advance as Portugal were level with Korea on the other end however this world cup has been full of surprises and yesterday was no different as HC Hwang scored in the 90th minute of the game thanks to a beautiful assist from H.M. Son that took Korea ahead of Uruguay on the points table by Goal difference and taking them to the Round of 16. You could see Luis Suarez in tears as his last World Cup came to an end. Suarez played a very important role for Uruguay throughout his carrier and will be looked on as a Legend for his country.

History was also made yesterday as 3 nations from AFC have qualified for the world cup round of 16 making with the best World Cup Asia has ever had.
The winners of Group G Brazil will be facing the runners-up of Group H South Korea on the 6th of December (12:30 am) (IST) and the winners of Group H Portugal will be facing the runners-up of Group G Switzerland on the 7th of December (12:30 am) (IST) in the Round of 16 Knockout out stages.
