Lucknow Super Giants achieved a significant victory thanks to Kyle Mayers' blitz and Mark Wood's subsequent five-wicket haul.
With Prithvi Shaw and David Warner scoring at over 10 runs an over for the opening four overs, the Delhi Capitals got off to a strong start. Shaw and Mitchell Marsh were both thrown out in the fifth over, though, by Mark Wood, who entered the game and caused chaos. This set DC back in their 194-run pursuit. Rilee Rossouw and Warner appeared to have a chance to rebuild the inning, but the former was defeated by Ravi Bishnoi. The onus is now on skipper Warner and vice captain Axar Patel to pull off what appears to be an extremely unlikely chase after Bishnoi, who also captured Rovman Powell. That was unsuccessful because Wood returned and took two more, finishing the game with remarkable stats of 5/14.
Prior to that, Kyle Mayers made up for a spectacularly lost catch by the Delhi Capitals by starting the batting for the Lucknow Super Giants. Khaleel Ahmed gave Mayers a life with a completely incredible lost catch when he was on 14 after a sluggish start. The slip was only a small portion of Delhi Capitals' terrible performance on the pitch, especially in the opening 10 overs. In response, Mayers pounded the DC bowlers all over the pitch, scoring 50 in just 28 balls. On 73 off 38 balls, he eventually succumbed to an extremely rare delivery from Axar Patel.
Ayush Badoni, a young player for LSG, kept the pace of the innings up by scoring 18 runs off of seven balls. As soon as Badoni was out, DC brought on Krishnappa Gowtham as an impact player to face the final ball, but the latter ended up hitting the only ball he faced for a six. LSG eventually totaled 193/6 in 20 overs as a result.
