KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja ruled out of the 2nd Test; India announces a revamped squad

Team India suffered a major blow just three days before the commencement of the second Test against England, as all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and batter KL Rahul were ruled out of the match at Visakhapatnam's Dr. Y.S.Rajashekar Reddy ACA-VDCA International Cricket Stadium. As a result, the BCCI selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, added three players to the team for the second Test, two of whom may make their debut for India in the upcoming game.

According to the BCCI release, Jadeja injured his hamstring on the fourth day of the first Test against England in Hyderabad, while Rahul complained of right quadriceps pain. "The pair's progress is being monitored by the BCCI Medical Team," the statement stated.

Sarfaraz Khan & Sourabh Kumar join the Indian team

Sarfaraz Khan, Sourabh Kumar, and Washington Sundar are the three players that the BCCI's selectors have added to the India team for the second Test.

The announcement ended Sarfaraz's long wait for his first India call-up. The batter, who has been hammering away at the doors of the selectors, had demonstrated his mettle for India A against the England Lions in the four-day unofficial Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He won Player of the Match after amassing 161 runs in 160 balls, laced with 18 fours and five sixes. He presently has 14 centuries in 45 first-class games with an average of 69.85.

Saurabh, a left-arm spinner from Uttar Pradesh with 290 first-class wickets at a pace of 24.41, was also involved in the previous match. Though he hasn't yet made his debut, this was his second call-up to the Indian national team. He was included in the squad for the 2022 tour of Bangladesh. After a brilliant performance against the England Lions, where he claimed five wickets in the second innings of India A's victory earlier this week, Saurabh is expected to make the Indian squad.
